PC denies causing death of boy, 16, in e-bike crash

A serving police officer has denied causing the death of a 16-year-old boy in a crash involving an electric bike and two cars.
Emergency services were called to Chilwell Lane, Bramcote, on 28 September 2025 following reports of the crash. The electric bike rider, Ryley Hutson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Daniel Cartwright, who is a police constable at Bedfordshire Police and was off-duty at the time, was later charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
The 31-year-old, from Kettering in Northamptonshire, entered a not guilty plea at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, and a trial date was set for 11 January.
