iOS 27 gives Camera app on iPhone three powerful new features
iOS 27 brings powerful upgrades to the iPhone’s Camera app, especially for users who have AI-compatible models or the iPhone 18 Pro. Here’s what’s new for Camera in iOS 27.
iOS 27 adds a brand new ‘Siri’ mode to the Camera app on all AI-compatible iPhones. It requires enabling Siri AI support first.
Siri mode essentially brings the visual intelligence features previously tied to Camera Control directly into the iPhone’s full Camera app. But it adds to it new capabilities thanks to Siri AI.
You can use Siri mode to capture and take action on anything your iPhone sees. For example, you can snap an image of text in another language to quickly translate it, or capture an event flyer to add the details to your calendar, or get care instructions for a plant, nutritional info for food, and a lot more.
Apple has made the controls in each Camera app mode fully customizable in iOS 27.
When in modes like Photo, Video, Portrait, and more, you can open the controls panel by tapping the icon with six dots in the bottom-right. iOS 27 adds a new ‘Edit’ button to the top-left corner when viewing this panel.
After hitting ‘Edit,’ you’ll see options for additional controls and can tap to add them to your default controls at the top of the screen. It’s a great way to remove controls you never use, and make your favorites easier to access.
iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max users will get even more new Camera app features in iOS 27.
Pro controls is a new set of options that are iPhone 18 Pro-exclusive. They include:
Photographic Styles have been upgraded for owners of the latest iPhones. ‘Photographic Styles 3’ adds new texture and grain controls so that users can further dial in their favorite looks.
