Report: Apple’s planned $7 billion bond sale attracts four times as much demand
Apple has filed a preliminary prospectus with the SEC outlining plans to issue seven series of bonds. Here are the details.
Over the past week, several Big Tech companies have turned to the bond market to raise billions of dollars amid growing investments in AI infrastructure.
Meta, for instance, just raised $15 billion through a US bond offering, followed by another €9 billion (roughly $10 billion) in European bonds. Earlier this week, Alphabet raised €6 billion (approximately $6.7 billion), while Microsoft completed a $25 billion bond sale last week, its first since 2017.
Apple has also turned to bond sales in the past to raise billions of dollars.
Previous offerings include those in 2015, 2019, 2020, and 2021. Most recently, Apple raised $4.5 billion through a four-part bond offering in May 2025, which attracted approximately $10 billion in investor orders.
Earlier today, Apple filed a preliminary prospectus with the SEC outlining plans to issue seven series of bonds maturing between 2028 and 2036.
However, while other Big Tech companies have been borrowing heavily amid growing AI infrastructure investments, Apple’s filing makes no specific mention of AI.
Instead, the company says it intends to use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, potentially including stock buybacks, dividends, acquisitions, and debt repayment, as it has done in previous bond offerings.
And while the prospectus didn’t specify how much Apple intends to raise, Bloomberg reported soon after that the company is targeting approximately $7 billion, with investors already placing orders totaling around $31 billion.
According to Bloomberg, strong investor demand has also helped Apple secure more favorable borrowing terms, with investors willing to accept lower interest rates than those offered by Microsoft, Meta, and Oracle in their recent bond sales.
